Chukwuemeka Iyke-Azubogu better known as Meka, was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and raised in Baltimore County, Maryland. Meka recently graduated from Morgan State University with a BFA degree and plans to pursue an MFA. Meka's early works and projects in ceramics have all been based on his American experiences, with pottery made based on the diversity in people, cultures, and entertainment through the vessel form.

Now he's seeking to bridge the two by going back to his Nigerian roots as a way to grow a deeper understanding of his heritage. Through he creation of his current works he hopes to rekindle and express the intimate black joy he had as a child.
